What is Electronic Software Distribution (ESD)?

ESD is the process of getting new software or software updates from Electronic Media such as the Internet or your LAN. This is cheaper than sending out media such as CD’s and manuals. It is also cheaper than sending a technician to each desktop to perform updates. ESD comes in 2 flavors: one is products for sale and programs for internal use.

E-Softdist offers service for both cases. Using Picturetaker and Prism Deploy, we can create installation scripts that will install upgrades and installations for your environment or the environments of your customers.

What is Integration Testing?

In our experience, it is fairly easy to get software to the desktop. It is much more difficult to make sure that all of you needed applications work after new software is installed. In our process you give us a list of all the software you need to run your business. When it is time to upgrade or install new software, we will set up a test environment and test all of your software to make sure it ALL still works. We use a process called Conflict Checking (using the Conflict Checker from LANOVATION). It will tell us exactly which programs and libraries have changed. If there is a problem with a caused by the new program, if possible, we will correct the problem and create a custom install for your environment. If two programs are incompatible, we will document the problem and set up procedures to run the incompatible programs is separate environments.

You do not have a technician running from desk to desk to install simple upgrades.

Using our procedure generally, reduce time during complex installs. In installing one human resources package, that had several pieces, the install went from over thirty minutes requiring user intervention to less than two minutes with no user intervention. Our methods also reduce the number of reboots required to do complex installations.
